To get started simply sign in. Once logged on you will be presented with links for your Profile, Add Listing, Listings and Change Password.
Profile: Edit this to give searchers an overview of you (We recommend that you fill in the bold fields).
AddListing: Use this to add a new listing, event or promotional sale to your profile.
Listings: use this to edit/delete existing listings. Click on the one you are interested in and edit. Editing listings this way gives you access to the full listing details such as directions and facilities. We recommend that you fill in as much as you can.
Change Password: use this to change your password.

MicroBlogs are fast becoming popular and important services for friends, colleogues and businesses to connect.
This is achieved by the exchange of short messages similar to SMS texts via the internet.
Anyone interested in particular users MicroBlog can simply opt to receive their messages.
YouPage has just launched a local MicroBlogging service. You can now create MicroBlog messages to keep you friends, coworkers and customers updated with current information that they may find interesting.
To get started simply log in or sign up:
Once logged in you can start creating MicroBlog messages by clicking the Messages link, Then the New Message link.
This will take you to a screan to select the listing you wish to make an entry about.
If you already have a listing it will show by default, otherwise search for one (i.e. searching you [youpage] will show the listing for YouPage Ltd).
Click the Create New Message link and enter the short message of your choice and optional link.
This will then create a new message in your inbox and send the same message to anyone that has opted to receive messages from you.
You can edit or delete the message by clicking the [Edit] link next to the message.
To receive other users MicroBlog messages click Follow. Then search for the user you are interested in (i.e. [youpage]). Click the Follow link next to their profile to add them to the list of users you wish to receive messages.
If you no longer wish to receive messages from a particular user select Following and click remove next to their profile.
To see who has opted to receive your messages select Followers.
MicroBlogs are a great way of keeping people up to date with your latest news.

You will then see the Messages page. Click the "New" link to write a reply message (you can find this towards the lower part of the page).

About your YouPage directory listing
Q: How do I create my basic listing on YouPage?
Adding your basic listing is free! Simply Sign up and enter your business or service details at the following link and submit (please remember to include your opening times).
Additionally you can also enter an event listing anytime. Use the same link and just select event as the listing type then enter details about you, your event, the start/end date and times etc.
Once created you will see a Listing Id for your recently added entry. Your listing id is also available when you search the main youpage site for your service. YouPage is your one stop for getting you listing, and promotional sale or event details online.
Q: How do I link to my YouPage listing?
YouPage is the first open local search utility. This means it's possible to link directly to your individual business, service and event listing. The YouPage listing tool below generates links to your listings in a variety of useful internet formats.
Simply make a note of your listing id. You should then bring up the link tools page
Enter your listing id into the textbox and click generate. This will create a series of links for you to add to your website and other web properties.
Q: What if I want to change my directory entry details?
A: Once you create a directory entry you are free to edit and manage it as you see fit. You can log into your account anytime and make changes. We encourage you to keep your directory as up to date as possible. That way people looking for your information have the most current data available.
Q: How do I remove my details if my business is no longer operating?
A: Add details to your directory entry that your business is no longer operating and once your entry reaches its end date you can choose not to renew.
Q: How do I get my Gadget and widget for my local listing?
A: What makes YouPage different is a local business or events search can be entered and interpreted in plain English. With YouPage it is possible to enter a search like “events in October” or “beauty salons open on Monday” and receive relevant results. This is achieved in part by hosting directory listings data at a very granular level. Listing data is held in a variety of standard internet formats (xml and rdf/xml) which are openly available on the Internet. By hosting data this way we are able to provide an open data platform which is accessible via an API to web developers so that they can concentrate on building engaging mini applications for themselves and their clients that do not replicate data across application types. One such way to reuse YouPage listings data is with Gadgets and Widgets. Gadgets and Widgets are fast becoming a popular way of marketing businesses and services. With YouPage any directory listing can easily be converted to a Google Gadget.
To see the YouPage Google Gadget in action simply enter your search terms using YouPage e.g. “hairdressers.” You will then be presented with a series of results. Select the Listing Id link from one of the results. You will then see the YouPage Google Gadget Configuration page. There you can set display and Gadget settings to your liking. Hint: Make the height/width correct for the full contents and set the title to your service or event name. Once you are happy with the look of your Gadget click the get code button. You will then be presented with some html. Copy this to your website or blog to make the gadget available.
